Esteemed Bristol Funeral Directors partners with funeral plan provider Golden Leaves ahead of FCA regulation

4th February 2022

As FCA regulation for funeral plan providers looms, Golden Leaves has partnered with independent family firm Bristol Funeral Directors in order to navigate their funeral plan business and its significantly funded trust through the new regulatory landscape.

Bristol Funeral Directors have been serving the Bristol Community since the 1800’s and with 10 funeral homes and over 40 staff, are dedicated to serving Bristol and the South West of England, collectively arranging around 1500 funerals each year.

The firm was first created when E. C. Alderwick & Son Ltd, Thomas Davis, Cotton & Sons, Bristol South Funeral Services & Heaven on Earth Bespoke Funerals joined forces and have provided first-rate funeral services to Bristol families for over one hundred years.

The alignment of two such brands as Golden Leaves and Bristol Funeral Directors is congruous with mutual and complementing values, trust and quality of product and service offering, work ethos and an undisputed care for bereaved families.

Derek Gunningham, Director of Bristol Funeral Directors explained:

At Bristol Funeral Plans we have been providing Funeral Planning within the Bristol area for the past 34 years and we were the first Funeral Plan to receive registration recognition from the Funeral Planning Authority. We are delighted to have chosen Golden Leaves as our preferred provided under the new FCA regulations which come into force from July this year. As a family business we are committed to providing the best possible funeral care whether it be at need or future funeral planning. We see this as a major step forward for our company in complying with the required regulations. Our family business of E C Alderwick & Son, Thomas Davis and Cotton & Sons date back to the 1840’s so Bristol families can be reassured from the much respected reputation we have that their funeral wishes will be carried out with the greatest care, dignity and respect.

Barry Floyd, Managing Director of Golden Leaves added:

It is a privilege to work with Bristol Funeral Directors. Ahead of impending regulation, it is critical that quality brands who share a mutual passion for quality, professionalism, and exemplary customer service join forces to be able to offer the best products and services we can, and it will be an absolute pleasure to work with the entire team at BFD, who we respect enormously.

Since its formation almost 40 years ago, Golden Leaves has been at the forefront of the funeral planning sector and was a founding member of the NAPFP (The National Association for Pre-paid Funeral Plans) and FPA (The Funeral Planning Authority).

In 2019, Golden Leaves became the first independent funeral planning company to have been awarded the BSI ISO:9001 for Business Excellence while its Founder, Tony Rowland, was awarded an MBE for ‘services to Undertaking and the community’ after supporting bereaved families for 65 years.

Golden Leaves prides itself in the quality of its products, services, systems, processes and management, the depth of the brand’s history and heritage, the financial strength of its trust and of course its ability to support partners with allocated future funerals.
